Title
October 17, 1968: BSU presents its list of demands
Subject
On October 17, 1968, the BSU presented its demands to the home economics department. According to a front-page article in the Diamondback, the BSU demanded: a public apology and acceptance of the four women into the experiment or proof of the biological difference between black and white students and if proven, separate but equal studies for Black students. Their latter demands drew an implicit connection to Brown v. Board of Education fourteen years after the court decision.
The BSU designed the demands to rectify the situation, but more importantly, to draw attention to the outdated [blankety blank] logic that undergirded government-funded research and higher education policy.
